Charleston, SC: The Ryder Hotel

I had heard many great things about Charleston, but aside from Rainbow Row, I didn’t know much about the city. When looking for a hotel, I wanted something that was cute, semi-affordable, and had a good location. I actually stumbled across The Ryder Hotel on TikTok and I am glad I did.

This boutique hotel recently opened right on Meeting Street. The location was a great choice. It was on the west end of the busy areas, but close enough where we could still walk to everything. This is important because Charleston is not as accessible as you would see in Chicago or NYC. Honestly, you could tell they had recently opened. The service wasn’t as great as I hoped, but think they may be able to work those out with more time.

A big reason I chose to stay at the hotel was the pool and the Little Palm Bar as I wanted a little relaxation from all of the exploring. Unfortunately, the bar was closed due to a COVID-19 exposure and we dodged rain the entire stay. However, I did get a little window to relax by the pool. It is small, but a cute oasis in the city.

Our rooms were just as Instagrammable with some really nice amenities. I mean how cute is that robe! The soap and shampoo was the Malin+Goetz brand and they had a T3 hair dryer. I had seen many influencers share it, but it was hard for me to get over that price. However, using it at the hotel has made me a believer.

Lastly, my favorite thing about the hotel was the complimentary bikes. We took them down to Battery Park and up to Rainbow Row before we experienced a torrential downpour. They are first-come, first-serve for any guests.
