Travel isn’t cheap and if you are like me, you tend to like the finer things over roughing it. Once I realized that I crave experiences over things, I knew it was going to take $$$ to make my dreams come true. Hence, my cash back journey began.
Now this is not a get rich quick process, but it can pay for a nice meal or even a flight if you do it right. Let me tell you nothing is more satisfying then getting paid for something you were already going to do. Below is a list of every app I use routinely and for what in alphabetical order.
- Evidation: Connect your fitness tracker like a Fitbit or Apple Watch and get points for doing normal activity like steps, sleeping, and tracking your heart rate. When you hit 10,000 points, you can cash it out to $10 on PayPal.
- Fetch: Scan you grocery receipt and voila you earn some points. They often run extra bonuses and you can watch them add up quickly. Points can be cashed out in gift cards or donated to a number of charities.
- Upside: Buy gas, get cash back. It’s that simple. Link the card you use to purchase your gas, check-in on the app. You receive credit back by the gallon. I personally do a good amount of driving and this can add up pretty quickly. They also have a few restaurants in my area on the app to for cash back on your purchase. You can cash out to PayPal with no minimum or to a gift card at $10 minimum.
- Ibotta: This is one of my favorite ones for regular use and have earned over $400 on it. I use it primarily for groceries, but also use it to purchase gift cards and some online shopping. You link a debit card and when you shop in a store on their list like DSW or Ulta, you buy a gift card instead of paying cash and get extra cash back. You must have $20 to cash out to your bank account, PayPal or a gift card.
- Inbox Dollars: Take a survey, watch a video, upload a receipt, or just click a button. This is one of my OG apps. It does take some action, but it is pretty easy to earn some money. You must have $10 to cash out to your PayPal.
- Rakuten: Add the Rakuten extension to your browser and get cash back for online shopping. They also have a ton of travel related cash backs as well. They pay out in their “Big Fat Check” once you have over $5. I linked my PayPal for direct deposit.
Okay, I realize you may be skeptical trading your info for money, but let me show you a recent example. I spent $103 at Jewel for Christmas dinner and earned $8.88 back in value (broken down below). That’s over 8% back on something I was already buying! Don’t forget the points I also received in steps for walking around the grocery store too.
- Fetch: 3,025 points ($3.02 in value)
- Ibotta: $5.84 cash back
- Inbox Dollars: $0.02 cash back
