On Small Business Saturday, my friend and I checked out The Crepe Shop. It was here that triggered one of the pillars to this blog! There are so many incredible local small businesses to support. Exploration can be in your own backyard. This spot is fairly new to the area, it opened in 2017. You can find it on the Broadway corridor just north of Diversey. I’ve walked by many times, but it wasn’t until my friend’s push that I checked it out.
The inside is Instagrammable and cozy. Unfortunately, due to indoor dining restrictions, we were not allowed to eat inside, but I did manage to capture a shot while my friend was ordering. Light and airy, it transports you to summer even when it is only 30 degrees outside.
Compared to other crepe places, the selection is small, but diverse. They pride themselves on a modern, progressive twist to crepes. Split into savory and sweet, you can choose from menu items like lox and ham & cheese to Nutella and wild berry cheesecake.
During my first visit, I tried the turkey & spinach. With a mushroom gruyere sauce layered into turkey, fresh spinach, and caramelized onions. The sauce was delicious and the crepe was light and fluffy! My only change would be more onions and less spinach, but that’s just my onion love talking. On my second visit, I tried the Nutella crepe. It just melted in your mouth!
I am not a coffee drinker, but they have a unique selection of drinks available too. You can grab a mocha espresso and a French lavender latte. I hear the drinks are just as good as the crepes!
